ONE TALL TREE

While walking during my lunch break last week I came across this tree that must have been close to 100 feet tall. It just seemed to stand out among the other trees and towering over its nearest neighbors so I just had to sketch it.

I thought it would be fun to draw this with a light and loose touch and try to capture the airiness of the branches.

for this sketch I used an iPad Pro 12.9 inch and Apple Pencil using the Procreate app.

Thanks for stopping by.

A QUICK SKETCH OF THE US CAPITOL

My job is one of those, "Hurry up and wait" jobs. A lot of waiting in between mad dashes to meet deadlines.

Some of that time I spend doodling images that come across my desk. Here is one of the U.S. Capitol.

This is drawn on standard copy paper using a disposable Bic mechanical pencil and colored in Photoshop CS6. The sketch took about 15 minutes total. I actually did a rough doodle a few days ago and decided to add to it today.

I haven't been sketching much lately but I'm hoping to get back into it. It's been a whole year since I began sketching and I've learned quite a bit in that time. I still have a long way to go but don't we all ...  or maybe it's just me.

A FEW WEEKEND SKETCHES

Here's a few sketches from a very sunny weekend for the most part.

I drew the house Saturday and the tulips Sunday -- from two slightly different views.

This church was sketched from Streetview and photos. It's located in Negros Occidental, Philippines, where my son, daughter-in-law and grandson will be heading in a couple of weeks.

This is Walmart in Albany. I drew this one day but for got to get a photo of it and went back the next but didn't quite match the view I had the day before  -- Oops.

ONE WEEK 100 PEOPLE CHALLENGE

This week is #oneweek100people2017 . The challenge is to draw a hundred people between March 6-10. They can be drawn on location such as a library, coffee shop or mall, or you can use video, tv or photos. Just draw.

You can look up the challenge on Marc Taro Holmes' website here: Citizen Sketcher

Here are a few of my very sketchy sketches from the first day drawn on a little 3.5x5.5 scribbler.

The purpose of this exercise is to just draw. Give yourself permission to have fun and draw without consequence, as Marc says on his blog.
