Cycling jersey design

This is part of a design I did for a bicycle jersey for the Cycle Station in Kona. This was drawn in Illustrator. This plays off the image of Pele, the volcano godess. There are plenty of drawings and paintings where she is depicted in the flames of the volcano. And, since we have active volcanoes here, this is a fitting representation for a bicycle shop.

Big Surf

Well, we got a little bit of rain from Tropical Storm Cosme, but no wind, at least on our part of the island. Not much in the way of surf either. This is a computer painting of a surfer, which is not quite finished yet. I'll post the finished painting when I complete the project.

This is a piece of computer art I created. I call it "Sunset in Kona." It was drawn in Illustrator CS2.

Where's the storm?

So much for our Tropical Storm Cosme arriving today! It's a beautiful sunny day, rare for this time of year considering it's our rainy season. Went for a 20-mile bike ride this morning in perfect, albeit, warm weather. The weather predictors are never correct in the islands. considering we get our forecasts from back east on the mainland. they fail to realize that we generate our own weather.

No. This isn't me, but I did take the photo. A tropical storm is heading our way and should make landfall tomorrow morning causing some goodsized waves, a little bit of wind and oh, a lot of rain.

The Big Island of Hawaii is over-run with cats and mongoose (mongooses? mongeese?), but that doesn't stop people from feeding them and it often results in some minor scuffles.

Did you hear the one about ...

... The Dog that gobbled up nearly $750
A Wisconsin famliy's dog has been known to gnaw on lipstick, munch on shampoo bottles and chew on toothpaste. But this dog got the family into a real mess after gobbling nearly $750.
“This is probably the worst,” the family said, recalling how they poked through vomit and dog piles left in the yard to recover the cash.
The dog, an 8-year-old black Labrador-German shorthair, got into a purse belonging to a friend of the family and chewed the cash from an envelope.
The family recovered some of the money that the dog spit out, thinking they had it all. But when the family went to clean up the dogs’ mess outside, she noticed a $50 bill hanging from one pile.
The chore of sorting through dog feces netted about $400. Between that and other bills that the dog had either vomited or simply chewed on, the family recovered $647.
“We have a $100 bill that can’t be recovered because you need three-fourths of a bill and it is only half of a bill,” the family said.
The family swapped the soiled money for fresh currency at a bank.
“It wasn’t that bad. I soaked it and strained it and rinsed it. I just kept rinsing it and rinsing it. I had rubber gloves on of course,” the mother of the family said.
“Everyone said, ’I can’t believe you did that.’ Well, for $400, yeah, I would do that,” she said.

The purpose of this blog

There is no real purpose to this blog. Only in those rare moments of lucidness will things be posted here that will make sense to the sane. Otherwise, for those who suffer from the false pretense that they are lucid, when in fact they are merely reliving some relished moment of the past, this is the place for you.

A to Z SKETCHBOOK
